August 23-My pain level reached a new unbearable last night….I know it was a somewhat crazy day, but gritting my teeth wishing there was someway to get comfortable was not in my evening plans.  I am now on low dose morphine morning and evening, with Vicodin if I need it in between.   Soooo, when everyone tells me how strong a woman I am—I gotta wonder if that is really true??

August 22-Busy, busy day today….it all starts bright and early at Zion Hospital, Randy, I and Brian are attending a chemo class—believe me when I say that this group of individuals are not the happiest campers in the land.  There is no way that, the material, the festive attendees—which by the way, I am the youngest by a good 10-15 years, and 2 hours of details about the life altering treatment that will take you to the brink and hopefully bring you back whole and healthy, will make anyone there crack a smile.

Off to the Moore’s Cancer Center at UCSD….We found out from my surgeon at Kaiser, that they are running a clinical study…..on my specific cancer……right now!!!  I want to get in this study, the chance to have the newest cutting edge drugs to help battle this is beyond great…There is no cure—this is my chance, my best chance, at one of the foremost cancer centers in California, to begin this fight…battle…annihilation of the cancer cells that have invaded me.  Absolutely fabulous news in that, I AM ACCEPTED to be in the study….the insurances need to work through their paperwork, but for me chemo begins at the earliest this week, the latest, sometime next week.

Family dinner time, and much to my families chagrin, I am jonesing for some KFC and don’t even think about skipping the mash potatoes and gravy.  Guess what, when you have been diagnosed with a very serious, very aggressive illness, you can ask for almost anything and they will do their damnest to get it for you!! Randy, Brian, Elisa, Tommy and Katie—love you guys more that words can tell and I also do love the KFC mashed potatoes, just not as much  :0
