Timeline:
July 19 – Shortness of breath; went immediately to emergency room to learn left lung was filled with fluid
July 29 – PET scan to get needed info for biopsy
August 4 – Biopsy performed
August 12 – Mesothelioma diagnosis
August 26 – Accepted in USCD Clinical Trial with Dr. Lyudmila Bazhenova
September 1 – First chemotherapy
UCSD Clinical Trial:
This is a clinical trial that UCSD is participating in. The big thing about this trial is that they add an “antibody treatment” to the standard chemotherapy for mesothelioma (which uses the cisplatin and alimta drugs).
